My Background

My name’s Sam Armour…

…and I’ve loved being active since I was a kid.  I trained hard, and it wasn’t long before I was an expert tree climber and digger of large garden holes.  Started riding and falling off bikes when I was very young and was quickly hooked.  They became my main means of transport when I started to ride to school and everywhere else from the age of 11.  While at school, I was a county swimmer and competed at national team level for athletics, where, as a jack of all trades, I naturally fell into Decathlon.  While juggling school and club sports, I discovered the world of sports cycling, where I’ve competed in the disciplines of mountainbiking, time trialling, road racing, criterium racing and my favourite, track (velodrome) racing, including riding for the Cambridge University CC team.  I’m still often found on two wheels, but my current fascination is with movement culture, dance and strength training.  I’ve been instructing and coaching for over a decade, and my qualifications include:

Olympic Weightlifting Coach (Greenwood Weightlifting) – trained by Giles Greenwood, Commonwealth Champion and British Record Holder.
